Measure Your Penis Like a Pro: Doctors Share Tips For Accurate Results
“The size of a man’s penis has little to do with his ability to satisfy a partner or even his fertility.” – Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, Director of the P.U.R. Clinic at Orlando Health
According to Men’s Health, talking about penis size is common among guys. Whether in high school, college, or the locker room, it’s normal to wonder how you measure up. But before getting hung up on numbers, remember that penis size doesn’t define your sexual prowess.
Therapist Jor-El Caraballo says focusing too much on size can hurt self-esteem, especially if you feel you don’t meet “normal” standards. In reality, most partners care more about confidence, communication, and creativity in bed than a big package.
The average erect penis is about 5.16 inches or 13 centimetres long. Knowing your size can help you buy the right condoms, but don’t tie it to your self-worth. “It’s like assuming shoe size tells you how fast someone can run. It doesn’t work that way,” Dr. Brahmbhatt explains.
Here’s how to measure your penis length, according to Men’s Health:
- Use a soft tape measure
- Place one end at the base of your penis where it meets your pubic bone
- Measure to the tip of the glans (head), not including the foreskin
- Follow any curves in your penis
For girth:
- Wrap the tape measure around the thickest part of your penis
- Note where the ends meet for your girth measurement
You can measure while flaccid or erect. If sizing for condoms, measure when erect. But remember, your penis doesn’t define you as a man or a lover. Focus on being a caring, attentive partner instead of stressing over inches.
