Men Lie About Their Package Size, Says Research, But We Are Bigger Than We Used To Be
A recent study of men in The Netherlands and published in Frontiers In Psychology revealed that men exaggerate the size of their penis by more than an inch to boost their ego.
Instead of measuring the participants, they were asked to report the size of their manhood.
Jacob Dalgaard Christensen, the author of the study, from the Swedish University Of Agricultural Sciences, discovered that the self-reported size of the participants was 21.1% larger than the Danish average.
While the average erect penis length of the country is 14.88 cm (5.9 inches), the respondents reported an average of 18.02 cm (7.1 inchs).
Christensen concluded that men exaggerate the size of their erect penis to portray themselves in a “self-serving way”.
Interestingly, the participants were more truthful about their weight, height and fitness.
When it comes to penis size around the world, recent research suggests that men worldwide are, on average, 24 percent larger than they were 29 years ago.
Some researchers believe that chemicals in the environment may be the cause of this increase. However, this does not mean that men are becoming more virile or sexually potent. Global fertility rates have been dropping over the last 70 years. The UN predicts that the average global fertility rate will continue to decline and, again, some researchers attribute this to chemical pollutants in the environment.
