Gay Dads Talk About The Joy Of Fostering

Barnardos: (L-R) Paul, Jayce and Craig

When Paul and Craig met almost 20 years ago, they knew they’d eventually want a family of their own. Four years ago, they opened their hearts and home to adopted son Jayce and life has never been better.

“Jayce has become the most important part of our family; we cannot remember what life was like before him. To see our little boy loved by so many people in our extended family, especially our parents, is a joy to witness. Creating a stable, loving home that cares for our son’s every need has become our primary. We also support Jayce’s contact with his biological family – and they have now become an extension of ours.

Make no mistake, our lives will simply never be the same again, but that is the magic of it… this little guy has become our world!

Barnardos were fantastic throughout the entire fostering and adoption process. We have always felt supported and they have armed us with extraordinary tools that we now use as a foundation of our parenting. Both Barnardos and the LGBTQI community have supported Craig and I throughout. Anyone who has known us over the past 5 years, knows how grateful we are to have had such a dedicated organisation like Barnardos provide us with all the support and guidance we needed.

To other same-sex couples looking at starting their own family, we would seriously recommend fostering and adoption as an option. You’re not just creating a family, you are helping a beautiful child in need. We are so grateful and blessed that Jayce has come into our lives because building this family has been the biggest and best adventure we have ever done.. roll on life!

Thank you, Barnardos for making our family happen!”
