Billy Porter To Play Fairy Godmother In Cinderella Movie

Pose star and openly gay actor Billy Porter has been cast as the fairy godmother in Sony’s Cinderella movie to premier in 2021.
The movie is a contemporary take on the fairytale of a girl who finds love in the form of a handsome prince with an eye for footwear after years of being forced into domestic service by her stepmother.
Porter will play the fairy godmother alongside Cinderella played by Cuban-American singer and actor Camila Cabello.
Deadline reports Porter confirmed he’ll be in cast of the film during a Q&A session at the New Yorker Festival.
Cinderella will be Porter’s eighth movie following Twisted, The First Wives Club, Anastasia, Intern, The Broken Hearts Club, Noel, and The Humbling.
Entertainment Weekly reports Broadway star Idina Menzel is in talks to play the role of the evil stepmother. Prince Charming, however, is yet to be cast.
On top of his acting commitments Porter will be directing an upcoming episode of FX’s Pose and will be writing his memoir.
