Glee’s Kevin McHale Has Glown-Up And Is Living His Best Life With Boyfriend Austin McKenzie
It has been 13 years since Ryan Murphy’s iconic high school drama Glee aired. That means it’s been 13 years since we saw Kevin McHale roll onto our screens as Artie Abrams – and a lot has changed since then.
McHale came out in 2018 in a tweet that says, “No Tears Left To Cry is gayer than me and I ACCEPT”. McHale is now in a relationship with actor Austin P McKenzie and they’re thriving – this is our appreciation post for both of them.

McHale’s role on Glee was that of an introverted, wheelchair-bound nerd with the surprisingly soulful voice of an angel. Look, we don’t love that the character leaned a little heavy on the AAVE, but we always appreciated his singing.
McHale has since gone on to have a career spanning television, theatre, music and radio. His relationship with hunky musical theatre beau Austin McKenzie is both a pleasant surprise and a major point of jealousy – they’re so cute together!
Kevin McHale is a member of the Democratic Party and has campaigned for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Bidens’ presidential runs. McHale has also tied himself to multiple social justice causes such as shelter animal adoption and LGBTQIA+ rights.
We couldn’t be happier for the Glee alum; he’s living his best life and seems to be happier than ever.
