Opportunities To Help LGBTQIA+ People In Uganda With Rainbow World Fund

(Supplied by Rainbow World Fund)

Like many countries across the globe, Uganda suffers from an LGBTQIA+ crisis. It is illegal to be gay in Uganda with the punishment being up to life imprisonment, reports Equaldex. 2022 has seen an escalation of hate-crime motivated violence towards LGBTQIA+ people with the Ugandan government passing the Sexual Offenses Bill that further criminalises same-sex activity.

The Rainbow World Fund is hosting volunteer events to offer support and raise funds for queer minorities in Uganda and are calling for numbers to show up in solidarity.

CASTRO STREET FAIR

For any San Francisco-based folks, Rainbow World Fund is hosting their Castro Street Fair on October 2 this year from 11am to 6pm where attendees can help raise funds for LGBTQIA+ refugees.

The RWF Rainbow Bus will be parked on Castro Street, the heart of San Francisco’s gay scene, where those in attendance can access their interior lounge or pick up a rainbow bracelet or bandanna. Rainbow World Fund is also seeking volunteers to help out at the fair. If you’re interested in volunteering for the Castro Street Fair, contact RWF via details on the website.

Alternatively, if you won’t be able to make it out you can donate online through here.
