We Are Loving Omar Apollo’s Big 12-inch Release” Celebrating The “Live For Me” Vinyl
Frank Ocean’s sometimes boyfriend Omar Apollo is in a new era of music releasing his much-anticipated Live For Me EP on September 30. As excited as we were for the music, Omar surprised everybody by releasing three vinyl variations equipped with art by Doron Langberg.
Each record’s cover is a portrait of the singer, but the back is what we came for. To the delight of fans everywhere, Omar is depicted in all his glory and standing to full attention… if you catch our drift.
Omar really knows his audience
When Omar released his single Ice Slippin, we were preparing for an emotional rollercoaster when his EP dropped. It seems even with that preparation, he still threw us for a spin. Omar should give his art department raises.
Doron Langberg is responsible for the vinyl portraits. His work addresses issues of gender and sexuality often blurring the lines of his subjects and their surroundings to capture a sense of intimacy and closeness. It would appear that Omar gave Langberg the green light in terms of capturing every inch of him. And we mean that literally.
For those interested in the music, Omar’s YouTube has a sample of the title song Live For Me which appears second on the EP after Ice Slippin. Two unreleased songs will also be available; Angel and Pilot. Omar’s music is dreamy, emotional and raw in this EP, at least what we’ve heard of it is. The vinyl nude is a great way to tease us (pun intended) for the level of intimacy and closeness we can expect from Live For Me.
