Vibrant New Track “Papi Dame” Debuts By Queer Urban Artist Elnegrojoan

(elnegrojoan)

Colombian-born queer artist Elnegrojoan is preparing to release his highly-anticipated debut EP Efímero. To preview the EP, he has released an explosive, provocative new single called Papi Dame.

Multi-genre track Papi Dame blends language and sound

What makes Papi Dame stand out is its clever use of a sample from the classic La Pastorcita Perdida by Atahualpa Yupanqui. Elnegrojoan and producer Nicolas Vair have ingeniously and seductively transformed this iconic melody into a contemporary and sensual experience.

The song tells the story of a fading love, with Elnegrojoan offering his own body as a final bid to retain his beloved, and with the artist Sory captivatingly and atmospherically supporting in French the mental dilemma that this loss generates.

This is what Elnegrojoan seeks to do with this track; create a unique auditory experience that incorporates the genres of reggaeton, Andean sounds and hyperpop with the inclusion of lyrics in both Spanish and French.

Elnegrojoan is based in Chile as an artist and filmmaker, but he’s spent time honing his musical prowess to develop a musical project based on his life experiences as a queer and black individual. The culmination of that work being his EP Efímero.

As an artist and songwriter, we believe Elnegrojoan has a unique and fresh sound that will shake up the urban music scene with his vision and individual voice.
