Um, Who Invited This Guy? Anti-Gay, Anti-Trans Pastor Goes Street Preaching In Pro-Gay Sydney
Pastor David Lynn is a well-known anti-LGBTQIA+ pastor from Canada who has quite the reputation for allegedly starting fights and provoking bystanders in his hometown. On Saturday, June 17, the pastor visited Taylor Square on Oxford Street in Sydney where his group espoused anti-abortion, anti-trans, and anti-gay rhetoric. It was a provocative move as Taylor Square is considered the heart of LGBTQIA+ Sydney.
What is he on about??
According to a report by CTV News, Pastor Lynn is a member of Christ’s Forgiveness Ministries. The group is notorious for “street-preaching” with loudspeakers in Toronto’s Church Street neighbourhood. Of his assertions, Lynn states that transgender women aren’t “real” women and that homosexuality is a sin.
This June, Lynn has been active throughout Sydney preaching on the street. On Saturday, his demonstration grew violent with one man arrested for shoving another person. Police were present due to being alerted to an “unauthorised gathering” and made an arrest on sight.
Speaking to Star Observer, Independent MP Alex Greenwich said, “It’s important that any incidents of abuse or violence are reported to police. I’m committed to working with [the] police, The City of Sydney, venues, and the LGBTQIA+ community to ensure Oxford Street is homophobia and transphobia-free zone.”
