Tom Daley, Back In Speedos And Back On Top, Wins Gold Medals At FINA World Cup

British diver Tom Daley has added two more gold medals to his collection, winning gold at the FINA World Cup in Tokyo, reports Out. The 26-year-old beat his competition in the 10 metre individual platform category and the synchronised 10 metre platform, alongside teammate Matty Lee. The FINA World Cup is one of the last diving events in the lead up to the previously postponed Tokyo Olympic Games in August.

Despite his hard-earned wins, Daley emerged from the pool thinking of his family back in the UK, waving to husband Dustin Lance Black and son Robbie saying, “Hello, Robbie, if you’re watching!”

After a year spent in lockdown, separation from his family, and isolating as part of a quarantine bubble in Tokyo, Daley told the BBC, “We haven’t been able to compete for a long time, so it’s been great to have this competition in the Olympic venue. Looking back on the two events, I think it’s been a solid performance.”

Olympic athletes will be under strict quarantine conditions while competing in Tokyo, but Daley has made sure he’s fully prepared for possible boredom by bringing his new found hobby of knitting with him. “Having a kid makes you appreciate the time when you can even say that you’re bored. When I’m at home, there’s no time to be bored,” Daley told reporters after the event.
