Singer Lauv Casually Comes Out Via TikTok
On Saturday, June 24, singer and music producer Lauv posted a video on TikTok apparently coming out. In the video, Lauv put captions up over the screen that says, “when ur dating a girl but ur also a lil bit into men”.
Why does it have to be a big deal
One of the great things about this new generation is their understanding of sexuality and gender being fluid. Lauv, whose real name is Ari Staprans Leff, posted a video where he was cruising along in his car and coming out via caption. “Does it have to be that big of a deal?” he captioned the post. “I haven’t done much aside from kiss so tbh don’t wanna jump the gun but tbh I feel things and I don’t wanna pretend i don’t. :)” The post was so casual, it could be confused for an ironic joke of some kind.
Lauv is best known for his hit songs I Like Me Better and I’m So Tired as well as his collaborations with BTS and Troye Sivan. He never explicitly mentions what his sexuality is but it’s evident he isn’t straight and his followers were quick to show their support. “A straight relationship doesn’t eliminate the fact you’re bi. So valid,” says one user. “Let’s normalize casually coming out #LoveLauv,” says a different user.
