Sport and lesbian icons, Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis, are officially married, and they have given fans a clear look at how they did it: private, family-first, and very them. The two football stars tied the knot on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, in Perth, with photos and video captured by Hype Up Studio for Vogue Australia.

A quick bit of context, if you are catching up.

Kerr is the captain of the Matildas and a striker for Chelsea. Mewis is a midfielder who has played for the United States women’s national team. They met in 2019 during a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) tournament, went public with their relationship in 2021, and got engaged in 2023.

A New Year’s Eve ceremony, kept private.

The wedding took place at Villa Dionysus in the Swan Valley, with around 120 guests. In their Vogue interview, the couple said they wanted the day to feel simple, warm and fun, and picked the venue because it felt “very homey and welcoming”.

The looks were classic, on purpose.

Kerr wore a black tuxedo, while Mewis wore a beaded gown with a veil. Mewis said Kerr kept it understated because she “didn’t want anything flashy, just something classic and comfortable”.

Yes, the baby was part of the moment.

Their seven-month-old son, Jagger, had a role on the day, with reports noting Kerr walked him down the aisle. Mewis had previously said on a podcast she would “sob” when that moment happened, and it sounds like she called that one.

So what have they actually shared so far?

Two photos went up on Kerr’s Instagram on Saturday, 3 January 2026. One shows the kiss. The other is pure reception energy, with Mewis on Kerr’s shoulders, drink in hand.

How the Vogue coverage and wedding video fit in.

Alongside the Vogue Australia feature, a wedding video has also circulated online, with publishing credits pointing to content creation studio Hype Up Studio.
