Pete Buttigieg And Tim Walz Torch Trump-Vance Ticket As Oprah Brings Down The House At DNC

The third night of the Democratic National Convention was all about fighting for our freedoms. And boy, did the speakers come out swinging!

VP nominee Tim Walz and other Dem heavy-hitters like Pete Buttigieg, Jared Polis, Dana Nessel, and Oprah herself took aim at Trump and his new sidekick JD Vance. They made it clear: the GOP’s Project 2025 playbook is nothing but bad news.

Walz talked about looking out for your neighbors, no matter who they are or who they love. “Mind your own damn business,” he said, especially when it comes to personal health choices like IVF. Republicans want to invade your doctor’s office – Dems want you to have the freedom to live your life.

“Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 will make things much, much harder for people who are just trying to live their lives,” Walz warned. It only serves the rich and extreme.

Bill Clinton dunked on Trump too, saying he’s still the same old divider-in-chief, obsessed with crowd sizes and “the late great Hannibal Lecter” (?!). Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is all about “You, you, you, you.”

Then Oprah Winfrey stepped up to the mic and dropped some truth bombs. “Despite what some would have you think, we are not so different from our neighbours,” she said. “Let us choose loyalty to the Constitution over loyalty to any individual.”

“We won’t go back. We won’t be set back. Push back, bully back, kick back. We’re not going back,” she declared. Preach!

Pete Buttigieg called out JD Vance for dissing people without kids. Vance claimed that people without kids have no “physical” connection to the future of the nation. Mayor Pete, deployed to Afghanistan before becoming a dad, and said his commitment and that of everyone in the armed forces to the country’s future was plenty “physical”. He believes America is ready for the “better kind of politics” that Harris and Walz represent.

The existence of Pete’s own family was “literally impossible” just 25 years ago. But courageous idealism and the right politics made that impossible dream a reality. In November, he said, we’ll reject the GOP’s “politics of darkness” once and for all.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel also delivered a defiant message to Republicans and the conservative Supreme Court majority. Praising VP nominee Kamala Harris for refusing to defend California’s same-sex marriage ban as AG, Nessel held up her own wedding ring.

“You can pry this wedding band from my cold, dead, gay hand!” she declared to thunderous applause. “And I’m retaining a lot of water, so good luck with that.”

So there you have it – LGBTQIA+ voices ringing out loud and proud at the DNC, standing up to the Trump-Vance nonsense. As one fierce speaker put it: “You can pry this wedding band from my cold, dead, gay hand!”
