Nico Tortorella, the talented actor known for their role in the hit series Younger, is set to take on a new groundbreaking project. Tortorella will be starring in a queer dramedy titled The Mattachine Family where they will portray a queer man navigating the complexities of modern fatherhood, reports Instinct.

Nico’s role is one he’s already familiar with

The Mattachine Family, named after the early LGBTQIA+ rights organisation, aims to explore the evolving dynamics of family and parenthood in the queer community. Tortorella’s character Thomas grapples with the challenges and triumphs of raising a child while embracing their own unique identity and perspective.

As a trailblazing figure in the entertainment industry, Tortorella’s casting is both significant and inspiring. The actor identifies as non-binary and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and visibility. Tortorella and their spouse Bethany C Meyers found their relationship the subject of scrutiny when they revealed they are polyamorous and queer, reports US Weekly.

The pair struggled with fertility issues but happily announced the birth of their first daughter recently on Instagram. Parenthood is a new adventure for Tortorella and The Mattachine Family explores love, relationships and the dynamics of family; a perfect role for a new queer parent.

As the film debuts, fans of Tortorella and advocates for LGBTQIA+ representation eagerly await screening of The Mattachine Family. With its talented cast, compelling premise, and the passionate team behind it, the dramedy is poised to do queer storytelling justice and showcase the rich diversity within the queer community.
