There’s a new LGBTQIA+ romantic comedy in the works called Before I Do, and it is built around a simple setup that usually ends badly for everyone involved. The film follows a lakeside bachelor party weekend that blows up when the groom and his best man realise their old feelings are not as “in the past” as they thought.

From there, the fallout spreads to the rest of the wedding party, including longtime friends and the groom’s best mate, who is, let’s say, not totally straight.

What we know about the plot.

The official story description is still light on character names and specifics, but the core conflict is clear: pre-wedding pressure, unresolved history, and a group trip where nobody can leave early without looking guilty.

Writer and director Gary Jaffe is making his first feature with Before I Do, after a run of short films including Sunset, Next Level Shit, and Last Summer with Uncle Ira.

The cast has range.
The film stars Jared Reinfeldt, Cole Doman, Michael Hsu Rosen, Robin de Jesús, and Nico Greetham.

Reinfeldt has worked across film and TV, including the series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and roles in Little Women and The Flight Attendant. Doman’s recent credits include Mutt and Gossip Girl (the 2021 reboot). Rosen has Broadway experience and screen credits, including Glamorous and The Sex Lives of College Girls.

De Jesús brings theatre accolades, with three Tony nominations, alongside screen work like Tick, Tick… BOOM! and Welcome to Chippendales. In a 2018 interview with Advocate, he put it bluntly: “The most masculine thing you can do is be courageous.” Greetham first popped for many viewers on So You Think You Can Dance and has since taken on projects including American Horror Story, Love, Victor, and Birds of Prey.

So, when will you actually be able to watch it? As of this writing, a premiere date has not been announced. What is confirmed is the location: Massachusetts, with principal photography completed in Otis.
