Meet “The Old Gays”: Your New Favourite Icons Who Say It’s All About The S*x
TikTok sensations The Old Gays aren’t shy about their favourite aspect of queer life. “The sex!” they joked in their exclusive chat with Pride.
Robert Reeves, Michael “Mick” Peterson, Bill Lyons, and Jessay Martin have captured millions of fans online with their candid humour. Now they’re taking their trademark honesty to a brand-new podcast, Silver Linings With The Old Gays.
What’s the podcast all about?
Silver Linings dives deep into LGBTQIA+ history, dating adventures, intimate stories, and honest advice. The podcast offers a blend of laughter and meaningful conversations, designed to bridge the gap between generations.
“Get a subscription to OnlyFans,” Peterson joked when asked about advice for younger listeners. He also shared reflections about misconceptions younger people often hold, stating,
“Younger generations think of the period that we grew up in as some sort of dark age, which it wasn’t. It was a whole lot of fun despite all of the terrible tragedies, especially in the ’80s.”
Learning from the past matters.
The Old Gays emphasise how crucial it is to remember queer history. Lyons highlighted, “Our history is one of the things that our audiences always ask us about. To inform younger viewers about those times is very special.”
Despite historic struggles, The Old Gays choose humour and joy to shape their message. When pressed about the best part of being queer, Lyons playfully confirmed, “Having sex with men. These guys have taught me a lot about myself, which I appreciate.”
Choosing love over approval.
The podcast doesn’t shy away from discussing deeper topics, such as chosen family and the importance of self-acceptance. Jessay Martin offered an empowering perspective: “I don’t need the world to love me, because I love me. People who matter are already in my life, helping me grow.”
At DNA, we love seeing queer representation that’s honest, relatable, and genuinely funny. After conquering TikTok, The Old Gays are now set to charm listeners everywhere.
