Mayor Pete a documentary that follows Pete Buttigieg’s campaign to become Democrat presidential candidate is slated for release later this year, Variety reports.

Mayor Pete goes behind the scenes with Buttigieg at home in Indiana with his husband, Chasten, and inside the campaign’s early days as well as Buttigieg’s historic, contested victory in the Iowa caucuses.

Buttigieg dropped out of the presidential race in March 2020, before the Super Tuesday contests, and after losing in South Carolina to Joe Biden. He became a vocal advocate for Biden, and regularly went on Fox News in the lead-up to the election to be one of the campaign’s most effective advocates.

As Biden’s Transportation Secretary, Buttigieg serves as the first Senate-approved openly LGBTQ Cabinet member in US history.

The team behind the feature is well-credentialed. Amazon Studios and film production team Story Syndicate recently collaborated on the Oscar short-listed All In: The Fight For Democracy. Mayor Pete co-directors and producers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine were shortlisted for an Oscar this year.

Mayor Pete will stream on Amazon Prime later this year.
