Glutemaxxing Is The Booty-Building Trend Taking Over, And Kevin McDonald Nails It

Kevin McDonald (X@YourFiendKevin)

Glutemaxxing, also called bootymaxxing, is the fitness trend of the moment, and it does what it says on the tin. You train your glutes hard to build a bigger, stronger backside. Fitness creator Kevin McDonald, known to his followers as @YourFriendKevin, just posted the better-butt demonstration everyone keeps replaying. Watch it below.

There is logic under the eye candy. Glute maxxing, sometimes called bootymaxxing, means training the three muscles that shape your backside, the gluteus maximus, medius and minimus. Stronger glutes are not only about looks. As Planet Fitness puts it, they “support and take pressure off your spine, hip joints, knees and even ankles.” Neglect them and you risk what trainers call dead butt syndrome, where the muscles switch off after too much sitting.

Why Everyone Is Suddenly Obsessed

We are not imagining the hype. In a Planet Fitness survey, 60% of people said they notice someone’s glutes before their face, and 70% feel more confident when they are happy with how their behind looks. Kevin clearly got the memo.

His form is worth copying, too. Slow reps, full range, and control beat fast, sloppy swings every time. Fancy giving it a go? Add his routine to a couple of leg days a week and you will feel the difference.
