Kacey Musgraves Google Search For A Spa Leads Her To Sydney Sauna

Kacey Musgraves managed to break her own crowd before she even hit the chorus. During her first Sydney show, the Grammy winner told fans she had tried to find a simple infrared sauna near her hotel. Her search led her to Sydney Sauna, which many in the audience immediately recognised. The reaction told her everything she needed to know.

She explained that the venue was listed as “Sydney’s premier gay sauna destination”, which had the room laughing. When she saw references to cruising and wet rooms, she admitted her first thought was, “This is very gay. This is not meant for me.” Her delivery was so relaxed that the entire moment felt more like a friend telling a story than a pop star onstage.

A detour that became a highlight.

Musgraves said she still considered going inside because she was curious and wanted to “make some friends”. She joked that her team told her Sydney Sauna is open 24 hours and declared, “Afterparty at Sydney Sauna.” It was one of those moments where a touring artist feels fully in sync with the people in front of them.

Sydney Sauna later went viral on TikTok after a user posted a clip from the show.

Sauna culture has long been part of queer nightlife, and Sydney’s spots regularly appear on global indexes. Earlier this year, the city ranked twelfth on Erobella’s 2025 Global Gay Cruising Index with a six out of ten rating for its saunas, which placed it ahead of New York, Berlin and San Francisco. Sydney Sauna also hosts weekly all-gender nights, which happened to fall on the same evening as Musgraves’ show.

The timing of it all made her story feel even sharper. What started as a simple wellness search turned into a moment of accidental cultural immersion that delighted everyone in the room.
