It’s A Sin Star Callum Scott Howells Joins Cast Of Cabaret
Callum Scott Howells is best known for his performance in the Russell T Davies’ series It’s A Sin in which he played Colin Morris-Jones. The actor’s next big role will be as The Emcee in the West End production of Cabaret coming October, 2022, reports Attitude.
MAYBE THIS TIME…
Although It’s A Sin may be Howells’ most recognisable role, he began his career in singing when he was only a child and has had considerable experience since. His role as Colin in It’s A Sin earned him both praise and a BAFTA award for the heartbreaking performance, reports Attitude.
Cabaret is a musical that touches on loss, hope, the decadence of pre-war Berlin, and the looming threat of Nazism. It’s the perfect show for Callum to further test his mettle as an actor and to show off his vocal skills. The Emcee is a central figure and has one of the more harrowing arcs from the start of the show to the end – something Howells would be familiar with playing.
“I can’t wait to work with the incredible team and company, and follow on from two actors who I hugely respect and admire. I feel very lucky and excited to be taking on such an iconic role within this widely celebrated and unique production. It’s going to be a ride,” says Howells.
Joining Callum Scott Howells will be The Handmaid’s Tale star Madeline Brewer who will play the role of Sally Bowles. The show goes on October 3 to January 28.
