“It Deserved It”: The Chilling Case Of A Trans Girl’s Stabbing In London

In a disturbing case of violence against a trans woman, five London teenagers have admitted to a vicious assault that occurred in February last year. The assault resulted in the woman being stabbed 14 times and reveals the depths of cruelty and transphobia that still exist.

Attackers: Bradley Harris and Summer Betts-Ramsey (Met Police).

“This Was a Hate Crime”

Prosecutor Deanna Heer described the incident as a “brutal, unprovoked transphobic hate crime.” The young woman, who had trusted this group enough to consider them friends, was lured into a trap and attacked. The events began after she performed oral sex on Bradley Harris, one of the attackers. When her transgender identity was revealed through a phone call, Harris became aggressive. Using hateful slurs, he threatened her before demanding she leave.

From there, the group conspired against her, using Snapchat to plan the attack. What started as a betrayal turned into a carefully orchestrated act of violence.

“A Vicious Ambush”

On the day of the attack, the victim was invited under false pretenses to what she thought was a roller disco birthday party. Instead, she was ambushed at a parking lot. Summer Betts-Ramsey, 20, stabbed her at least 14 times while the others punched and kicked her. The incident lasted just under a minute but left the young woman with severe injuries.

Strangers passing by came to her aid, contacting emergency services and helping her until an ambulance arrived. Remarkably, she survived her life-threatening injuries. In court, she shared how the attack still affects her, admitting that “thick scars” now mark her body and she struggles to sleep at night. This testimony was recounted by The Guardian.

According to BBC, Judge Philip Katz KC, during sentencing, called the ambush “vicious” and said it had “elements of transphobia and revenge.” The five attackers namely, Summer Betts-Ramsey of Barnet, Bradley Harris of Harrow, Shiloh Hindes of Peckham, Camron Osei of Tadworth, and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, each pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

“It’s Disgusting”

What’s perhaps most disturbing is the lack of remorse shown by the attackers. They posted videos bragging about the assault, and when someone in their social circle confronted them, calling the attack “disgusting,” Betts-Ramsey chillingly replied, “It deserved it.”

Where does that leave us? This crime wasn’t just about physical violence. It was a message of dehumanisation, a reminder of the bigotry that still exists today.

The attackers, including the unnamed 17-year-old, now face sentencing. But justice feels hollow when hate like this costs someone their safety, dignity, or even their life.
