Hottie Actor Zane Phillips Rumoured To Star In Disney’s Live-Action “Hercules” Remake
Fans are buzzing about a potential live-action remake of Disney’s classic animated film, Hercules. A viral Facebook post has sparked excitement, featuring a poster with an all-star cast and a 2027 release date.
The poster suggests openly gay actor Zane Phillips, known for his role in Legacies, could be taking on the lead role of the mighty demigod. Other rumoured cast members include Hollywood heavyweights like Michael Keaton, Jodie Comer, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Hudson, Stanley Tucci, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost.
While the specifics from the viral post may not be accurate, a live-action Hercules remake is indeed in development at Disney. Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham is writing the script, with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo producing.
In June 2022, Aladdin filmmaker Guy Ritchie signed on to direct. Casting rumors have swirled, with names like Taron Egerton, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa being thrown into the mix. Danny DeVito, who voiced Satyr Phil in the 1997 animated film, is also rumored to be reprising his role.
When will we see Hercules on the big screen?
Disney hasn’t announced an official release date yet, as the project seems to be moving slowly. The Russo Brothers recently shared they’re still waiting on the script. With Ritchie committed to directing another film in late 2024, production on Hercules likely won’t begin until 2025 at the earliest. This could push the release to 2027 or even 2028.
The producers have hinted the remake will pay homage to the original while putting a modern spin on it. They aim to keep the humor and subversive tone that made the animated classic so beloved. Whether it will be a musical remains uncertain.
Hercules is just one of many live-action remakes Disney has in the works, alongside Bambi, Moana, Snow White and Lilo And Stitch.
