Gays Get What They Want: Pete Buttigieg Grows A Beard
Photos of a bearded Pete Buttigieg emerged earlier this year but to the disappointment to his gay fans they were only a dream doctored by apps. But with COVID-19 lockdowns rolling across the United States the former candidate has put his razor away and is growing a beard.
In a video posted to Twitter, Buttigieg’s husband, Chasten, talks about growing a beard as a scruffy Buttigieg sits next to him.
A bearded Buttigieg emerged in an Instagram Live broadcast about the pandemic with former Vice President Joe Biden and journalist Connie Schultz, where he joked that one major change to his routine was visible.
“Obviously, I’ve taken advantage of the simple fact of not having to shave every day,” Buttigieg said.
Now gay men nationwide have been given a present to help them through social distancing. And after weeks of solitude, they are thirsty.
In an interview with New York Magazine, Buttigieg was asked if the beard would have got him the Democrat nomination.
“Well, I guess we’ll never know for sure. It seems to be popular online. I just relish the fact that I’m no longer expected to shave every day. I didn’t mean for it to be a statement — we’ll see how long it lasts,” Buttigieg said.
Referring to the beard growth as “an experiment” Buttigieg couldn’t confirm it would stay once it loses favour with Chasten.
“Yeah. It’s safe to say if the beard loses favour with Chasten it’s not long for this world,” Buttigieg said.
