Friends Could Induce Homosexuality In Young People, Say Turkish Censors

Turkish news blurred the "immoral" bare arms of Friends cast (Yeni Akit).

Turkish newspaper, Yeni Akit, has blurred the bare arms of Friends actresses Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow in an editorial that claims that the show could infect young viewers with ideas of “homosexuality, incest and child abuse”.

The article was in response to streaming service Netflix announcing that the US sitcom Friends, which debuted in 1994 and ran for 10 seasons, would be available to watch in Turkey from April 1.

In an article called, ”Netflix hopes to target our young people with the depraved TV show Friends” it claims that Netflix is part of a coordinated attempt to degenerate Muslim society by legitimatising “immoral behaviour”.

Aside from “immoral behaviour” perhaps Friends offended Turkey for other reasons. (YouTube)
