Rejoice! Madonna’s “Lost” Ray Of Light Remix Album Is Coming!

Madonna (X/@Madonna).

In news that has sent fans into a spin, Madonna has confirmed a long-rumoured project is finally seeing the light of day. The Queen of Pop announced the upcoming release of Veronica Electronica, a remix companion to her iconic 1998 album, Ray Of Light.

This isn’t just a collection of familiar club cuts. The album promises rare mixes and, most excitingly, a previously unheard demo produced with Rick Nowels called Gone, Gone, Gone.

A Release Over 25 Years in the Making

For those who followed her work in the late ’90s, the name Veronica Electronica might ring a bell. The project was originally planned as a companion piece to be released shortly after Ray Of Light but was ultimately shelved. Now, decades later, it is getting a proper release. Circle 25 July in your calendar because that is when the album officially drops.

The track listing digs deep into the era’s electronic sound. The A-side features new edits of mixes from legends like BT and Sasha on Drowned World/Substitute For Love and a Club 69 mix of Nothing Really Matters. The B-side includes a Victor Calderone version of Sky Fits Heaven and the sought-after Widescreen Mix of Frozen.

Revisiting a Classic Era

It is hard to overstate the impact of Ray of Light. The album sold over 16 million copies worldwide and earned Madonna four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Album. It marked a significant creative shift, blending electronic music with spiritual and introspective themes.

The album’s influence continues today. As singer JADE said earlier this year of her own cover of the lead single, “I chose this song because I’ve always been a huge fan of Madonna’s, and this is one of my favourites of hers. I love the drama of the song and I’ve always related to the lyrics, learning to open up my heart.”

Veronica Electronica is the second retrospective release planned for this year. Fans are also anticipating a special re-release of her 1994 album Bedtime Stories. It seems 2025 is shaping up to be a very good year to be a Madonna fan.
