Dan Levy’s Latest Film Project “Good Grief” Will Hit You Right In The Feels

Daniel Levy and Luke Evans in Good Grief (Netflix).

Schitt’s Creek alum Dan Levy has released the trailer for his film, his directorial debut, Good Grief which follows a tight-knit group of friends dealing with the painful inconvenience of loss and the often treacherous process of healing.

Reeling in the wake of his husband Oliver (Luke Evans) dying, Marc (played by Levy) has been insulated from the world while attempting to heal. His two best friends, Thomas and Sophie, have been guiding him through his grief but they can’t help having complicated feelings that crescendo as the trio travel to Paris, a year on from Oliver’s death.

What does grief look like when the world continues on?

It’s a subtle and emotion-driven story from a talented ensemble cast.

Without giving too much away, the emotional year following Oliver’s death has wrought complicated feelings for all three. Marc is constantly learning new and painful truths about his husband, Thomas has begun feeling for Marc as more than a friend, and Sophie’s own struggles begin to creep in from the periphery.

Daniel Levy is writer, director and producer on Good Grief. (Netflix).

The “kill your gays” trope is tired, but Levy’s Good Grief opens new doors – what happens when the shock wears off and you’re left with pieces of your life that need repairing? What happens when the people who glue you back together are falling apart themselves?

This contemporary telling of grief is in good hands with Levy who has helmed episodes of Schitt’s Creek and launched his own production company, Not A Real Production Company. This undertaking will test his legs as a writer with heavy emotional drama and nuanced character development.
