Brian Sims Unleashes His Inner Leather Daddy For Nasty Pig
We have always had a soft spot for Brian Sims. The former Pennsylvania State Representative has built a reputation on being smart, outspoken, and incredibly photogenic. Now he is leaning all the way into his “daddy” status as one of the faces of the new Real Nasty Pigs Of New York campaign.
Politics meets fetish gear.
Sims joins a cast of queer icons for the third instalment of this gritty campaign, including RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Violet Chachki and Luxx Noir London, as well as New York City Health Commissioner Dr Demetre Daskalakis.
Seeing a former elected official don leather gear and pose with such confidence sends a powerful message. It proves that professionalism and queer sexuality do not have to be mutually exclusive.
In the images, Sims fully embraces the leather aesthetic. It is a look that fans have long associated with the bearded politician, but seeing it officialised by a brand like Nasty Pig feels like a victory lap.
Authenticity matters.
Nasty Pig CEO David Lauterstein explained that the goal was to find people who are “authentic in their identities”.
“Visibility matters. Leadership matters. Representation across all arenas of life matters,” Lauterstein said in a statement about the cast.
In a political climate that often demands conformity, Sims’ participation challenges the idea of what a leader should look like. He is showing us that you can fight for policy in the morning and wear a harness at night.
Fashion for a cause.
The campaign is not just about looking good. It is also raising funds for the Ali Forney Center (AFC), a New York-based non-profit organisation committed to saving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness.
By stripping down and gearing up, Sims and his co-stars are drawing attention to a vital resource for our community. It is the perfect blend of sex appeal and social responsibility.
