America’s Sexiest Ex-Politician Brian Sims Proposes To His Partner Alex Drakos

(Instagram)

Pennsylvania’s former state representative Brain Sims has been a long-time subject of DNA appreciation. He was the the first openly LGBTQIA+ member of the Pennsylvania Legislature and has spent his whole career advocating for civil rights, social justice causes and community-building.

Via social media posts, Sims announced that he popped the question to partner Alex Drakos, surprising him with a ring and proposing on the beach.

Congratulations!!

Sims created quite the ripple in politics pond when he became a representative advocating social justice causes and LGBTQIA+ rights advancements. In 2021, he announced a bid for Philadelphia Lieutenant Governor. Now retired from the state assembly, Sims continues his advocacy work with Out Leadership – a company working to demonstrate the advancements LGBTQIA+ diversity can make in the business sector.

Alex Drakos first became part of Brian’s public life when the former politician announced that he had met someone special on Instagram in 2022. Since then, Drakos has himself graduated from the University of Berkley’s School of Business and participated in the AIDS/LifeCycle event for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Captioning the snap he posted online of their proposal, Brain says: “HE SAID YES! Tonight on the beach I asked Alex if he’d be my husband and he said yes! Our friends have been in on it awhile now and a few weeks ago I asked his parents before I flew out to Hong Kong if I had their permission. Luckily, just like my parents, they were excited and supportive. I’m so stupidly grateful to have this amazing man in my life and now it’ll be forever. #LoveStory.”

DNA asked Brian if he had any doubts that Alex would say yes. “I don’t know. I was fairly certain he’d say yes, although I didn’t know if he had similar plans that would be thwarted by my plans. Afterwards he told me he’d been planning to propose to me later this year so it sounds like I just beat him to it!”

According to Instinct, Alex posted on his Instagram story saying that it was the “easiest decision” he’s ever made.

We wish the happy couple all the best and offer our congratulations!
