Armie Hammer’s Grindr Hookup Ends With A Flaccid Reality Check

Armie Hammer in Mirror Mirror (Relativity Media)

Armie Hammer, best known for his role in Call Me By Your Name, recently spilled the tea about his attempt at a Grindr hookup, and let’s just say it didn’t exactly ignite sparks. His candid story played out on the latest episode of his podcast, Armie HammerTime, which aired on March 2.

A Restaurant Rendezvous Gone Awry

While dining out, a Grindr notification lit up his phone with a rather straightforward offer: “I’m at the same restaurant. Do you want a blowjob in the bathroom?”

Seizing the moment, Hammer shared his plans with the friends he was dining with and swiftly headed off to meet his admirer. His mystery man? A handsome French guy who seemed promising at first. “I was like, ‘Okay, this could work. Yeah. Let’s try this,'” Hammer confessed.

Beards, Shoulders, and Mixed Signals

The initial spark didn’t last long, though. As they kissed, a few things threw Hammer off. First, the beard. “God! Beards! Oh, I get why women like it when you shave,” he said.

Then came the guy’s build. “His shoulders were so wide! He’s so big! He’s almost my height.” Hammer described these details as feeling “strange” rather than exciting.

What about chemistry? That was another story altogether. Hammer admitted that he felt “nothing, like, not even a twitch” as things escalated. The final straw came when his hookup attempted to go further. “You’re not going to touch my flaccid penis,” Hammer recalled saying. “This is not going to happen.”

The Public Fall and Irony of Cannibalism Fantasies

Hammer’s willingness to share this personal experience comes after a very public downfall. In 2021, multiple women accused him of violent abuse and disturbing fantasies involving cannibalism. These allegations led to an LAPD investigation in 2023, though no charges were filed.

Adding a weird twist to the story is Hammer’s Call Me By Your Name co-star, Timothée Chalamet, went on to star in Bones And All (2022), a love story centred on two cannibals directed by Luca Guadagnino, the filmmaker behind Call Me By Your Name.

What Can We Take Away?

Hammer’s Grindr misadventure might inspire questions about chemistry, attraction, and the complexities of human connection. What happens when expectations meet reality, and how do personal preferences shape experiences?

Hammer’s openness serves as a reminder that not every encounter is destined to become a steamy story, and that’s okay. We’ve all had moments where reality didn’t quite measure up to the fantasy.
