Amid Claims Of Drag Queen Pageants And Fake Resume Credits, George Santos Has Some Answering To Do

In a bizarre twist that nobody saw coming, Republican Representative George Santos has been accused by former colleagues of being a drag queen who used to compete in beauty pageants in Rio De Janeiro, reports Reuters.

Openly gay politician George Santos has denied these claims, but the very existence of them baffles many in his party when considering his vocal stance in support of conservative politics.

US POLITICS IS NEVER A DRAG

Representative George Santos built his campaign for office on traditional Republican stances that include a rejection of pro-LGBTQIA+ policies. Despite Santos being openly gay, he supported the Don’t Say Gay law in Florida, which attracted much public scrutiny from the LGBTQIA+ community.

According to Reuters, a Brazilian drag performer who goes by Eula Rochard claims to have known George Santos in 2005. They allege that Santos was “cross-dressing” and performing in drag beauty pageants in Rio under the name Kitara. In response to these allegations, Santos categorically denies their merit and put out a statement in which he says, “The most recent obsession from the media claiming that I am a drag Queen or ‘performed’ as a drag Queen is categorically false.”

“The media continues to make outrageous claims about my life while I am working to deliver results. I will not be distracted nor fazed by this,” he says.

The news wasn’t the only scandal to break on the freshman congressman. The New York Times published an article in December, 2022 that claimed to have reviewed public documents showing George Santos allegedly embellished much of his resume. The references on Santos’ CV that are alleged to be false are as follows: his education, his work experience and his philanthropy. Administrators from Baruch College found no records of his graduating despite Santos putting them in his resume. Neither Citigroup nor Goldman Sachs has records he worked with them. Santos’ charity organisation Friends Of Pets United is also claimed to be a fabrication as the Internal Revenue Service has no record of it existing.
