Sin City Classic Sports Festival 2026 Brings 24 Sports And 10,000 Competitors To Las Vegas
Las Vegas is often associated with late nights and casinos, but this weekend the city is shifting gears to host a massive athletic gathering. Starting today, the Sin City Classic Sports Festival takes over the strip for five days of competition and community. We see plenty of events claim the title of “world’s largest” but this festival makes a strong case for itself. Organisers say they expect over 10,000 athletes and fans to attend between January 15 and January 19.

The festival is organised by GLASA, which stands for the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association. They established the event in 2008 as a softball tournament. It was originally called the Sin City Shootout. It has grown significantly over the last 18 years. It now stands as a major fixture on the global queer sporting calendar. While the Gay Games draws massive numbers every four years, the Sin City Classic holds the title for the largest annual LGBTQIA+ sporting event in the world.
From softball to bridge.
You might expect the usual athletic suspects like tennis or swimming, and you would be right. However, the scope of this festival is surprisingly broad. There are 24 different sports on the roster this year. Athletes are competing in everything from basketball, soccer, and volleyball to more niche activities.

Participants can try their hand at cornhole, darts, and even bridge. For those who prefer more physical contact, there are options such as wrestling and grappling. There is even a category listed as “Rodeo University.” It creates a unique atmosphere where dodgeball players mix with golfers and bowlers. It is rare to see such a diverse mix of disciplines in one location outside of the Olympics.
Comedy and community.
Sport is the main focus, but there are social aspects. The festival is held at the Flamingo Las Vegas, the central hub for the weekend. The schedule is packed with social gatherings and parties. This year marks the inaugural Sin City Classic Comedy Show.

RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Monét X Change is set to headline the comedy event on Saturday, January 17. She is currently on our screens in The Traitors, but she will be taking the stage at the El Dorado Ballroom for this new addition to the festival. It adds another layer of entertainment for the thousands of visitors in town.

The organisers state their goal is to provide a competitive atmosphere for LGBTQIA+ athletes. It is a chance to connect with old friends and meet new people from around the world.
If you’re in Las Vegas or planning a last-minute trip, the competitions run through the weekend. You can find more details or register for specific events at the official festival website.
