Famous DJ and music producer Diplo has made headlines with his recent interview on Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast High Low. During the interview, Diplo shared a surprising revelation about his sexuality, stating that he is “not not gay” and has experimented with men in the past, reports NME.

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS “NOT NOT GAY” ANYWAYS?

The 44-year-old artist, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, discussed the topic of sexual fluidity on the podcast, noting that he believes that sexuality is a spectrum and that he doesn’t like to put labels on himself.

“I don’t want to define that I’m gay but I think the best answer that I have is I’m not not gay,” says Diplo. “There’s a couple guys that I’d be like, ‘I could date this guy… life partner-wise’”. Although the DJ says he isn’t particularly aroused by men, it hasn’t stopped him from dipping his toes in the male-only pool, reports NME.

“I’m sure I’ve gotten a blowjob from a guy before. For sure. I don’t know if it’s gay unless you like make eye contact while there’s the blowjob happening,” he says. “Getting a blowjob’s not that gay, I think. Like men that are younger than me, I meet a lot in the scene, like they’re very fluid. It never was like that when I was in high school.”

Diplo’s revelation has been met with mixed reactions from fans and the media alike, with some praising him for being open and honest while others have criticised his rather cavalier attitude to receiving oral sex from men.

“There was definitely like, you had gay kids in school, and you had gay cousins or whatever. It was different than it is now,” he continued. “Wood chopping guy is kinda sexy. I don’t know if that’s the thing that’s gonna send me over to the gay side completely, but they’re pretty hot guys.”

Regardless of the response, Diplo’s statement has brought attention to the issue of sexual fluidity. It remains to be seen how Diplo’s revelation will impact his career or personal life, but one thing is certain: his openness and honesty about his sexuality have sparked an important conversation that will continue to resonate in the music industry and beyond.
