The Original Hedwig Is In Sydney This Week

John Cameron Mitchell, co-creator and star of the cult rock musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch will channel the essence of his iconic character and bare all in his new show The Origin Of Love.

Twenty years ago, Mitchell co-wrote and starred in the off-Broadway punk musical following a trans East German musician’s search for love and identity. Three years later, the film adaptation of Hedwig And The Angry Inch earned him a Golden Globe nomination and a cult following.

DNA asked what we can expect from the Opera House show? “Really cool costumes, a rock’n’roll show… and I’ll tell some stories. It’ll be a hybrid concert/cabaret,” he told us. The Tony winner will bring “that Greenwich Village vibe” of Hedwig to the Opera House this Friday.

So put on some make-up, turn up the eight-track and book now for Friday 6 July.
