Your New TV Boyfriend Alex Landi Brings Heat To Netflix’s “Mr Plankton”
Alex Landi brings his striking looks and acting talent to Netflix’s new Korean series Mr Plankton. This Korean-Italian-American actor made TV history as Dr Nico Kim on Grey’s Anatomy, breaking ground as the programme’s first gay male surgeon and Asian male surgeon.
His time on Grey’s Anatomy (Seasons 15-18, 24) gave us the beloved “Schmico” relationship with Jake Borelli’s Dr Levi Schmitt. Their story ended in Season 24, giving fans the closure they wanted.
Between his medical drama success, Landi caught attention in shows like Insatiable, Connecting, Station 19, and Walker. Music fans might know him as the charming astronaut from Doja Cat and SZA’s Kiss Me More video, where his shirtless scenes caused quite a stir online.
Mr Plankton, filmed on South Korea’s stunning Jeju Island, marks Landi’s return to his Korean heritage. This 10-episode Netflix series comes from director Hong Jong-chan and writer Jo Yong, known for It’s Not Okay To Not Be Okay.
The story follows the world’s most unfortunate woman (Lee Yoo-mi) who falls for a man with an unusual birth story (Woo Do-hwan). Landi plays John Na, working under Beom Ho-Ja (Kim Hae-Sook) in this fresh take on romantic comedy.
In an Instagram post, Landi shared his experience making the promotional video, fighting against noisy leaf blowers to tell fans: “We can all watch it together, and hopefully, I didn’t do a terrible job.” This down-to-earth attitude shows why fans love him.
