SIMPLY CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF YOUNG ROYALS? SAME
The inaugural season of Young Royals left off with Simon and Wille at odds with one another and the lingering tension sets the tone for season 2. Now, without spoilers, the actors sit to discuss season 2 and what it means for the future.
“It was beautiful to be able to go into that universe again and try to tell and deepen the story as much as possible,” says Edvin Ryding. Following up, Omar Rudberg says, “Being able to do all that again and reuniting with the cast and everyone, it was for sure a blessing.”
The two actors have formed a close friendship having worked together and report a great admiration for each other. “We first got to know each other as our characters, and I remember thinking, Omar is super, super talented and he’s very open to challenges. I think that’s what I like the most about working with him. He has an open mind,” says Ryding.
“I remember sitting next to each other, and when we started the scene, I remember Edvin laying down on my lap. He was super confident, and I don’t think we even said four sentences to each other before we started being Simon Wilhelm,” says Rudberg.
Audiences have delighted from the beginning that the show reflects real teenagers, albeit incredibly wealthy and royal teens, and the storylines have always felt raw and natural. Ryding and Rudberg believe moving forward for a season three would mean rounding out even more of their complex characters, reports Instinct.
“We’ve got to remember that these characters are regular teens as well, even though they have very surreal circumstances. So, I guess for Wilhelm’s part, I think the audience deserves to see him grow even more if we do a season three, and maybe continue to discover what he wants and needs in life,” says Ryding.
“I would say the same thing about Simon. Just seeing him do his thing, and maybe working on some awesome songs. Maybe he’ll release first single,” says Rudberg.
The two even teased that they would be in for a Heartstopper crossover, although it’s unlikely we would get to actually see that happen. “Maybe Omar and I just link up with Kit and Joe’s characters at some point. I think that would be the perfect crossover,” says Ryding. “Maybe they’re just hanging out in London, in the city, and we just happen to cross paths somehow,” says Rudberg.
Although there’s been no confirmed season three yet, the popularity of the series will likely mean its renewal in the near future. Until then, if you still can’t get enough we have a write up of Omar Rudberg for our Sexiest Men Alive 2022 issue in DNA #272.
