Andy Cohen has finally explained why the Queen of Pop has never graced his Watch What Happens Live stage. The Bravo host opened up about his complicated relationship with Madonna during an appearance on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, revealing that she’s held him personally responsible for negative comments made by his guests.

The moment everything changed.

“She called me a troublemaking queen,” Cohen admitted. The issue stems from years of guests making unflattering remarks about Madonna on his show. When Patti LuPone criticized the pop icon during an episode, the comments spread globally. Cohen believes Madonna sees him sitting alongside these guests and considers him guilty by association.

A five-minute love letter to Madonna.

After receiving that “troublemaking queen” label, Cohen decided to take action. The two have each other’s phone numbers, so he sent her a text expressing his admiration. Her response was pointed: “You have a funny way of showing it.”

Cohen knew he needed to make a bigger gesture. He contacted his booker and assembled his team overnight to create something special. They put together a five-minute compilation reel showing Cohen praising Madonna throughout various episodes. The footage highlighted all the positive things he’d said about her over the years, moments that rarely make headlines.

Did the peace offering work?

Cohen sent the reel with a simple message: “This is the stuff that doesn’t get reported on.” Madonna’s response was encouraging. She appreciated the gesture and suggested they keep the positivity going.

Does this mean she’ll finally appear on Watch What Happens Live? Cohen remains hopeful but realistic. “Maybe she’ll do it,” he said. “If she doesn’t, it’s fine because she’s Madonna, so she can do whatever the hell she wants.”

The waiting game continues.

Cohen’s attitude reflects his understanding of Madonna’s status in pop culture. “I’ll take what I can get. I don’t care,” he explained. The host hopes to book her before the show eventually wraps, but he’s not holding his breath.

Will we see Madonna on Watch What Happens Live anytime soon? Only time will tell. For now, Cohen waits with fingers crossed and phone at the ready.
