Netflix’s most recent hit series Wednesday stars Hunter Doohan as the main love interest, Tyler Galpin. The series’ success has helped launch many of the cast into the spotlight and now people are starting to get to know these actors better.

Hunter Doohan more or less keeps his private life out of the public sphere, but in a new interview Doohan reveals more about his coming out experience and his on-screen daddy crush, reports Instinct.

WHO IS HUNTER?

Hunter Doohan may play a 17-year-old in Wednesday, but the actor is actually 28-years-old and married. His acting credits include roles in What/If, Your Honour and Coffee House Chronicles. His latest role in Netflix’s Wednesday is the most commercially successful project that Hunter has been part of with a lead credit.

Hunter got married in 2022 to his partner Fielder Jewett who was a former film producer. Owing to the fact not much is known about the couple’s relationship, it’s unclear how they met and how long they’ve been together, but Hunter first posted Fielder on his Instagram in 2018, reports Popsugar.

In a new interview with Queerty, the actor opens up about how Wednesday has changed his life and how he experienced coming out via his ex-girlfriend-turned-best friend. Before landing more substantial roles, Hunter speaks about grinding as a Hollywood extra. “I did basically every kind of actor day job when I first got to LA. I was a background extra for five years – before I got fired by central casting,” he says.

When asked about queer culture that is significant for him, Hunter brings up how Will And Grace was his first encounter with gay media. “For me, it was definitely discovering Will And Grace in high school, which my girlfriend at the time introduced me to,” he says. “But that show was definitely the biggest exposure I had had to queer culture up until that point. And I loved it. I don’t even know how I was still in the closet because I was getting Will And Grace DVD box sets for Christmas!”

Rounding off the interview with a few lighthearted moments, Hunter speaks about his dream on-screen daddy – he chose Matt Bomer. “I mean, my gut answer is probably still too young to actually be a daddy, but I have such a crush on Matt Bomer. But he’s not old at all, so he probably wouldn’t want to be daddy yet, haha. That’s not a sentence I thought I’d say today.”
