In an interview with VMAN, singers Troye Sivan and Omar Apollo got together to chat about boys, dreams, and tour life – subject matter we are all very interested in.

The casual conversation that unfolded between the stars revealed much about how they first met, what it was like breaking into the industry and dating while on tour. Spoiler: Troye’s looking to be cuffed before his tour!

Parallel stars in the game

Troye and Omar are similar in many regards, whether that be through their shared family values, similar relationship to their sexuality or a love of music. But they also lead very different lives. The two stars inhabit separate corners of pop culture yet find comfort in the common ground between them.

In their conversation, they touch on what it was like breaking into the industry and performing live shows. “I’ve had moments throughout my life where I’ve had terrible stage fright,” recounts Troye. “And then it kind of went away on tour in 2019 because I just got so used to it and started to feel more confident in the show and everything like that.”

Omar chimes in recounting a similar feeling of nerves and discusses how he gets over it. “You got to do the self-talk! Run that. It definitely works. It’s a very egotistical move in your head. It’s a switch. Once you get off stage, you can turn the switch off,” he says.

The conversation turns to tour life. Both stars talked about whether or not they went out and partied while touring and they again found common ground. “You know, on tour, I definitely was not going out. I was completely focused. I was like an athlete,” says Omar.

“I’m just wondering about [not going out on tour] because that’s something that I go back and forth with,” says Troye. “There have been times when I’m not doing anything at all and just hardly even sightseeing and stuff. Just trying to find the balance between having a life, living it, and feeling like a human being while also looking after yourself.”

Troye then reveals he’s never been on tour while single. Omar speaks about trying to bring “boys on tour that I was in love with”, which he mentions never worked out well.

I’ve got till May 29th to find a boyfriend,” Troye jokes.

“I mean, you’ve been on tour before, but doing it single is way cooler. You don’t want to be in a relationship. I’m telling you,” Omar replies.

So, essentially, eager suitors have the tour deadline to lock in a relationship with Troye! Similarly, Omar is off the market while he’s touring so snapping him up during his off season is the way to go.
