The Hairy Chest Is Back And These Men Are Leading The 2026 Resurgence

The smooth, shaved torso had a long run, but heading into 2026, the hairy chest is doing what it does best: showing up uninvited, stealing attention, and somehow looking right.

Scroll through any busy thirst-trap ecosystem and you’ll see it. There’s less of the laser-smooth-gym mannequin and more of the scruffy, fluffy, furry body texture. Edge Media Network’s recent run of chest-forward posts is a handy snapshot of where things are landing right now, from fluffy bear-chest selfies to beachy pec hair that’s framed like the main character.

The evidence is all over your feed.
Edge’s profile of Brazilian judicial analyst Arthur Numeriano leans hard into what makes his photos pop: a stocky build, a muscular chest, and chest hair that turns “just a selfie” into an event!

Another Edge post spotlights an influencer known as Joe (handle: “Colorblind Italian”), calling out his beard and hairy chest as part of his appeal.

Then there’s Lucas Thomaz Mendes, framed as an outdoorsy creator whose “hairy pecs” get their own moment in the write-up.

Different guys, different vibes. Same common thread: hair is no longer being treated like a problem to solve.

Why it’s hitting now.

Part of this is fashion and media doing their usual swing. Academic research has found that preferences around male body hair can shift with trends and cultural cues, rather than staying fixed forever.

You can also see the push-pull in grooming habits. A 2014 study on male body hair depilation (hair removal) notes that hair reduction had become common among young men in Western contexts, but also that both keeping hair and reducing it were viewed as socially acceptable.

So when a “hairy chest comeback” starts bubbling up, it makes sense. It’s not always a rejection of grooming. It’s more like a correction. Not everyone wants the same look, and not everyone wants the upkeep.

And yes, upkeep is a factor. Going fully smooth is work, and it comes with that itchy regrowth phase most people pretend doesn’t exist.

The bigger body-hair mood shift.

In 2025, Vogue reported on a broader moment of people leaning back into natural body hair, especially in online culture and fashion.

Even mainstream style moments have been hair-positive. People made a point of noting Travis Kelce’s chest hair as part of a ’70s-inspired look ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

So what does “hairy chest” mean in 2026?

It’s not one thing, and that’s the point. For some guys, it reads confident and relaxed. For others, it lands as nostalgic, a bit ’70s, a bit “dad at the resort,” but hot. On a bear, it can feel like part of the whole silhouette. On a leaner frame, it can add contrast and texture that the camera loves.

Expect more visible body hair in thirst traps, more “soft but masculine” styling, and more guys choosing whatever feels good over what feels required. The hairy chest isn’t new. The change is that it’s being shown on purpose again, and it’s getting treated like an asset, not an apology.
