Telenovela Star Roberto Manrique’s Journey: Self-Love Blossoms After Coming Out

It’s been three years since Ecuadorian model and telenovela star Roberto Manrique publicly came out as gay. At 42, he decided to come out, and it’s been a journey of growth and self-discovery ever since.

“I Love Myself More”

In a recent video, Manrique reflected on his coming out experience and how it’s impacted his life. “That day, I felt like it was the step I definitely had to take to love myself more. Period. So I said it,” he recalled. With over 3 million followers, Manrique’s decision to be open about his identity has brought him a sense of freedom and authenticity he never thought possible.

Manrique’s coming-out story has not been without its ups and downs. In 2021, he shared his long-term relationship with partner Oliver Ranft, and the two even appeared on a digital cover together. However, the pair split after eight years together, releasing a joint statement expressing their gratitude for the time they shared.

Despite the challenges, Manrique has continued to use his platform to encourage others to not be afraid and live authentically. “So if you are afraid to take a step to be more yourself, whatever that may be, do it,” he encouraged. “Being someone you’re not is unlivable. And you know that.”

In addition to his acting and modeling work, Manrique has become a vocal advocate for environmental causes. His project, Juntos X La Tierra, has planted over 261,303 trees around the world, and he continues to share his empowering messages with his followers.
