Sports Hot Takes: Heath Thorpe, Tom Daley And Josh Cavallo
Heath Thorpe presses pause on the thirst traps…
Out Australian gymnast Heath Thorpe, a man celebrated for both his incredible athletic skills and his equally impressive Instagram feed, has made a public service announcement. He recently told his 150,000-plus followers that the regular shirtless photos will be on hold for a little while. In a post this week, he declared it his, “Last thirst trap before the incoming storm of gymnastics content.” The reason for the pause is a good one, as he is now heading off to compete in the World University Games. We suspect his fans will find the gymnastics content just as satisfying.
Tom Daley wants you to get into his new trunks.
Tom Daley has officially launched his own swimwear collection in a new partnership with Adidas. The Olympic champion dropped the news on Instagram, modelling a pair of retro-inspired, snug-fitting trunks himself. The campaign photos show Daley looking confident both in and out of the water, perfectly highlighting the gear. The collection retails for around $58 AUD. This move is another confident step for the athlete, who continues to be a prominent and unapologetic figure for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Josh Cavallo’s next chapter is not what we expected.
Australian footballer Josh Cavallo has signed with a new team after relocating to the UK. He has joined Peterborough Sports FC, a club in the sixth tier of the English football league system. This is a significant change from his time at A-League’s Adelaide United, which regularly pulls crowds of 10,000 compared to Peterborough’s average of 322. Despite the club’s size, it has ambitious plans thanks to its new owner. For Cavallo, who has had limited field time over the last two years, it is a chance for a fresh start. He says he feels welcome and safe at his new club, stating he is ready to “pour everything I have into playing for the badge, for the fans, and for everyone who supports us. Time to make some noise and write our history.”
