“I never liked weddings”

In a surprising turn of events, Rupert Everett, the British actor known for his charm and wit, has married his long-time partner Henrique. The couple, together for 15 years, exchanged vows in a low-key ceremony at London’s Camden Town Hall.

Despite his initial reluctance, Everett decided to take the plunge. He said, “I never liked weddings. But as you get older, you see the issues gay couples face. It’s about thinking ahead.”

Everett’s views on marriage have evolved over time. In 2020, he told Mindfood magazine, “I’m not against any type of marriage. I just don’t think it’s always the best for a relationship.”

But he soon changed his mind. He told The Times, “I wouldn’t mind getting married now. I’d marry my boyfriend. But I’d only have two or three people at my wedding.”

Back in the spotlight

After a quiet period, Everett is returning to the public eye. He’s currently in The Serpent Queen and will soon appear in the British film Madfabulous. Fans can also look forward to seeing him in the upcoming season of Netflix’s Emily In Paris.

Everett’s career has been diverse and impactful. His breakout role was in the iconic 80s movie Another Country, where he played a gay character. He later starred opposite Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding, cementing his status as a Hollywood star.

He also wrote a popular autobiography about his career called Red Carpets And Other Banana Skins.

With a new marriage, a thriving career, and a book on the way, Everett is entering a new phase of life. His journey shows that love and success can come at any age.
