Strength Isn’t Measured in Years

There is a moment that arrives for many gay men somewhere after forty.
It isn’t dramatic. There is no announcement. No fanfare.
You simply realise that the world has quietly started telling you what you’re supposed to become.
Less visible.
Less desirable.
Less adventurous.
Less… you.
We’re told youth is everything. That confidence belongs to twenty-year-olds. That the gym is for people chasing perfection. That fashion has an expiry date. That sensuality should become quieter with every birthday.
I don’t believe any of it.
If anything, I believe the opposite.
Growing older has given me permission to stop performing and start becoming.
Fitness is no longer punishment for what I ate yesterday.
It’s gratitude for what my body is still capable of today.
