Politician Claims Gay Character In Cruella Has “Ruined” His Childhood!

After the release of Disney’s Cruella, GOP politician Omar Navarro took to Twitter to express his displeasure at there being a gay character in the film, reports Complex.

The tweets in question were published on May 31, 2021 and said, “The new Disney Cruella with Emma Stone just ruined my childhood with an openly flamboyant gay in the movie.”

“Disney persist shoving the LGBT agenda down our throat,” he wrote. He followed that tweet with another that said, “RT if you are going to boycott Disney.”

According to Complex, Omar Navarro’s tweets received instant backlash from Twitter users, many bringing up his checkered past with a 2016 conviction of stalking his ex-wife. He was placed on probation and then subsequently served 6 months in jail for this violation. Other Twitter users accused these tweets of pandering to right-wing conservatism.

This would not be Navarro’s first instance of criticising programs for containing LGBTQIA+ content, reports Complex. In 2019, the politician took aim at the children’s program The Owl House which featured Disney Channel’s first bisexual lead character.

On June 1, 2021 Navaroo also took to Twitter to advocate against “indoctrination” in schools as he referred to Nickelodeon’s Blues Clues Pride Month special. Navarro tweeted, “there’s a difference between accepting and shoving an agenda and propaganda down children’s throats”.
