Poland’s LGBTQIA+ Couples Ignite Powerful Coming Out Movement, Demanding Civil Unions
LGBTQIA+ couples in Poland have started a big coming out movement. They want the government to make civil unions legal. An activist couple, Jakub and Dawid, led a 100-day countdown to push Prime Minister Donald Tusk to keep his promise.

“We Didn’t Think We’d Find Enough Couples”
Every day, a new couple bravely shares their story on a website. They explain why civil unions matter to LGBTQIA+ people in Poland. Jakub and Dawid were surprised by the huge response. They said, “Poland is the most homophobic country in the EU. We didn’t think we’d find enough couples for 100 days. But we’re now on the 160th pair, with volunteers for two more years.”

The government didn’t keep its promise in 100 days. This made the LGBTQIA+ community angry and even more determined. The campaign was supposed to end after 100 days but now, it will keep going until civil unions are legal in Poland.
