Olympic Field Hockey Star Nico Keenan Says Yes To Dutch Politician Rob Jetten
Two-time Olympian Nico Keenan and Dutch D66 party leader Rob Jetten announced their engagement on Tuesday through their Instagram accounts. The couple shared three photos, including one that captures their intimate moment together.
Jetten, 37, chose a private setting for his proposal, asking the life-changing question just before their romantic dinner. In his exclusive chat with LINDA.nl, Jetten shared, “I thought it was about time. It just feels great. We’re very happy together.”
Keenan, 27, represented Argentina in field hockey at the Paris Olympics, advancing to the quarterfinals. His soon-to-be husband watched proudly from the Stade Yves-du-Manoir stands during the games.
The couple faces an exciting time ahead. Keenan, who plays for Netherlands club Klein Zwitserland in The Hague since 2017, will soon head to India for two months. Jetten mentioned to LINDA.nl, “I wanted to ask him before he would be away from home for a while again.”
In an April interview with Trouw, Keenan spoke about his life with characteristic openness: “I don’t even feel like I’m doing anything special. I’m just living my life the way I want to live it.”
The couple received warm wishes from Olympic gold medallists Anne Veenendaal and Marleen Jochems, who won with the Netherlands women’s team in Paris.
Wedding plans remain in development as the couple works to bring their families together from different parts of the world. As Telegraaf noted about this “hockeyhunk” and his political partner, their story continues to inspire many.
