Monsters Actor Cooper Koch Sets Sights On “A Little Life” TV Adaptation
Cooper Koch, known for his role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, is eyeing another intense project. This time, it’s A Little Life, the 2015 novel by Hanya Yanagihara. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Koch revealed his interest in adapting the book, even writing a letter to the author.
“I just wrote a letter to Hanya Yanagihara to do A Little Life. That’s at the top of my list,” Koch said. He’s eager to find a studio that will trust both him and Yanagihara to make it happen.
What Is “A Little Life” About?
The novel follows four friends –Jude, Willem, JB, and Malcolm – focusing mainly on Jude’s traumatic life. Jude hides years of abuse and pain from his friends, leading to strained relationships. The story tackles difficult themes like sexual abuse, self-harm, and suicide. It’s emotionally heavy and leaves readers with little relief, but it’s a powerful look at trauma and survival.
Why Is It Controversial?
A Little Life is known for its raw portrayal of trauma. Themes like childhood abuse, rape, and self-harm make it a tough read for many. While some praise its emotional depth, others find it overwhelming due to its unrelenting focus on suffering.
