Michael’s bedroom is full of love notes, stuffies from friends and, most abundantly, dry roses. Michael cherishes every new bouquet he gets. From each bunch, he always takes one or two flowers out to dry and save. He has roses from almost ten years ago.

In his room, Michael likes to read and write. His favourite book right now is Wuthering Heights. It was an emotional read for him. He loves old and flowery language, and he uses it in the love letters he writes. He once wrote an ex a letter every day for a year. But you know what they say: “If a man writes you one letter, he really likes you. If a man writes you a hundred, he really likes writing letters.”

Not many people have seen Michael’s room. His family built his house in the 1700s, and he’s lived in it since he was born. As you can imagine, it holds a lot of dear memories for him. The past is beautiful, but we live in the present. Michael hasn’t gotten flowers since February, and he’s eager to get some new ones.

Retouches on this shoot were by Diana Dembitska.
