On September 29, long-running FX anthology series American Horror Story announced that the season 11 theme is New York City. Fans of the show have had snippets revealed via social media and now the full cast has been released, reports Distractify.

LEATHER, BONDAGE AND KINK WILL RUN SEASON 11

Show creator Ryan Murphy is known for using niche aesthetics in past seasons of American Horror Story to aid the feeling of authenticity and creation of setting. What this new trailer reveals is Murphy’s exploration of New York’s iconic LGBTQIA+ scene as a place and aesthetic for this season’s narrative.

According to Out, the promo shots for AHS New York City have incorporated styles that evokes the kink and fetish culture tied to the New York club scene. With masks, ball gags, leather and nightclubs all being imagery related to queer spaces, many predict that whatever new horror arises this season is intrinsically tied with LGBTQIA+ lore.

Fans lament that the plot has yet to be revealed in any way, but the cast list has dropped with many LGBTQIA+ actors and icons. It’s not uncommon for a season of American Horror Story to involve such actors, but this season appears to have a cast list stacked with queer representation.

Joining the cast is returning AHS veterans Zachary Quinto, Billie Lourd, Patti LuPone, Leslie Grossman and Denis O’Hare. Joining the show is Russell Tovey, Charlie Carver, Isaac Cole Powell, Kyle Beltran, Kal Penn, Joe Mantello, Sis, Sandra Bernhard and Rebecca Dayan.
