The hype surrounding Mary And George has been building since the producers announced casting back in January 2023. The series has finally debuted and is already amassing fans who are flocking to see lead star Nicholas Galitzine portray a queer noble… again!

“Our power is too potent”

Galitzine is no stranger to playing gay roles – even those laden with heavy intimacy. His role in Red, White And Royal Blue helped establish him as qualified to play these characters and his performance as George has pushed him further as an actor.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Galitzine gave very thoughtful responses to the queer scenes saying how important they were to his character’s development. “And for me, that was always a really important part of George’s history that needed to be filled in. I mean, it’s his genesis in a lot of ways,” he says.

“I’m just really, really proud of how those scenes turned out, especially being so far removed from the rest of what we filmed in the first few episodes at the start of the shoot.”

It seems lately any project Galitzine touches turns to gold – Red, White And Royal Blue, Bottoms, Mary And George. Fans have already begun tribute accounts around the series and swearing they love the show for the “plot”. Cheekily posting an apology, Galitzine says: “Mary & George would like to formally apologise for breaking social media. Our power is too potent.”
